Want your name in Firefox 2 ?

Then, help spread Firefox and get creditted in Firefox 2. Now, what I think is really amazing is how much effort they spend to credit those helping to spread Firefox, but not those helping to fix it.
Don't get me wrong, I don't care about being creditted myself for the several patches I sent and more, but I'm pretty sure a lot of people who sent patches like me are not creditted either.
It's already a PITA to get patches applied (some patches are still waiting to be reviewed or applied)...

Update: At least, they credit in the CVS logs.

Somehow I get the feeling that the Mozilla guys don’t *really* get open source. All that brouhaha about patches and the logo a while ago, it’s harder to get cvs commit rights than clearance to enter a US military research lab, the stepmotherly treatment that their main coder gives linux, etc etc.

I sometimes wonder if it, in the long run, would be better to fork Gecko for use in Epiphany and other real community projects and let the Mozilla foundation do what it wants.

So there are almost 200 million downloads of Firefox by now, right? Let’s assume 1% of those users bother to do this; that’s 2 million users. Assuming the average name is 15 characters long, that’s 30MB they’ve wasted storing this name list. Hopefully it’s not included in the tarball but on some website the sane part of the world can avoid.

So what are the bug numbers of those patches?
Do they need review or do you need to have them applied?
If you want to have them applied to cvs you can add [checkin needed] to the keywords input, that normally ensures it will get applied reasonably soon.
